Consciousness, Emotions, Awareness and Responsibility

Human emotions and how we show it taps into a rich field (or should I say ‘mine field’) of information.  I was recently standing at the carousel in an airport waiting like everybody else for my luggage.  What I experienced was fascinating!  Consciously exploring and identifying different emotions made me aware of how much there is to read on another’s face and in their body language without saying a word.  The longer I waited the more there was to see, and the more conscious I became of the opportunity to formulate my own story.

An anxious older lady with a ‘purple rinse’ was clinching her cotton handkerchief with a tight fist, moving closer and closer to the conveyor belt as the clock was ticking. The man in his business suit looked at his watch several times, adjusting his collar and tie more than once not caring to hide his impatience.  A group of care-free teenagers were planning the rest of their day completely absorbed in their own world.  Where was I?  I realised that I was fully conscious, aware of each and everything around me with great intensity.  I was connecting to each one in my world on their level, feeling and sharing in the moment without judgement or story.  How much time do we spend consciously choosing to tap into the emotion of another, and do we realise when we exploit the facts to create our own story?

In Consciousness Coaching we teach you about awareness.  Awareness equals choice, and with that comes responsibility.  Are you aware of the facts and do you consciously choose not to buy into anybody’s story – not even your own? Can you choose to be in the moment without writing a novel about it? How much extra time will you have each day if you follow these simple rules?  Maybe you will have time to write a novel after all ………
