This talk is for anyone who is interested in making a more powerful impact in those day-to-day sales conversations (and yes you, get out from behind that plant!). We are all involved in interactions where we need to sell ideas/concepts and get people’s buy-in and commitment to those, but for many reasons our relationship to selling is not always a positive one. At this talk we will explore some simple methods that will help you to inspire, move people to action, and engage the heart and minds of others, by overcoming the stories and fears that are going on in your head. By using simple methods one can shift from…avoiding to taking things head on, suppression to self-expression, from victim to creator, and from ‘othering,’ to taking ownership and responsibility for the outcome of their ‘sales’ conversations. The concepts we cover are applicable to everyday life and all aspects of professional engagement.

This month’s speaker is Barbara Scogings, Coach, Writer and Trainer will be speaking on Ignorance is not blissful. A lack of limitation is blissful.
This talk will be about how to fast track personal transformation using ‘The Universal Law of Polarity’. This law states that everything is on a continuum and has an opposite. We can suppress and transform undesirable thoughts by concentrating on the opposite pole. It is the law of mental vibrations. We all have the power to move from one behaviour to the other – to understand both poles and all shades of grey in between – showing intelligence rather than ignorance. We can choose with conscious knowledge and wisdom from a point of balance and freedom, how to behave in any given situation. True liberation arises from overcoming limitations.

Conscious business needs conscious leaders, and together these form the foundations of a fascinating form of capitalism – conscious capitalism – that is emerging in the world today as we evolve to the next level of our humanity. Come and explore with us the factors driving our change, what it means for the way we do business, who the successful conscious companies are who are leading the way, and be part of the discussion of a very new field, the conscious leader. Our aim is that you take away from this evening a powerful mix of ideas, tools and inspiration to apply back into your own companies – and that you form part of the revolution of the way we do business, globally. Business is seen as the most powerful and influential institution in the world today: what becomes possible in evolving the whole if we evolve the way we do business?
Based in South Africa, Gina currently divides her time between clients in Africa, the Middle East and Europe. She owns Sphere Consulting Services, a UK based learning and development consultancy with local and global clients across the corporate and public sectors. She has worked in the people development arena for the past nineteen years, initially as a learning and development specialist for PricewaterhouseCoopers in London before setting up Sphere Consulting in 2002. Gina has a keen eye for facilitating and coaching across cultures having worked with clients across the United Kingdom, Europe, Russia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Gina specialises in relationships and helps businesses to develop distinctive relationships with their clients in order to secure market share. She aligns counterproductive teams, helps people to have powerful business conversations that get to the heart of issues, influence one another skilfully and she enjoys aligning whole organisations around their culture, change, values and future direction, especially when this involves running large group events for 250+ people which gets people talking to each other and on to the same page.
Gina’s professional qualifications include an MSc in Counselling Psychology, additional diplomas in psychotherapy, qualified use of psychometric tools, and international accreditation as a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coach Federation (ICF). She coaches a wide range of business professionals, from managers to executives, to access their potential, overcome their limitations and create their best selves. She is an accredited Consciousness Coach and is passionate about conscious leadership and conscious business, which she believes is imperative in the way we lead our organisations into the future.

Talk Outline:
A growing body of research is demonstrating that as we become happier, the quality of our lives improves dramatically and in general we become better people. As we become happier we become more compassionate, more creative, more energetic, more financially successful, more emotionally and physically healthy, and more effective and productive in the work place. Organisations that have a happy culture enjoy all the foregoing as well as reduced stress levels and reduced absenteeism, and therefore less medical claims.
This highly interactive Happiness talk will include the business case for ‘happiness’ within organisations, what happiness is, the benefits of being happy or happier, how to BE happy, and the only Happiness Now workshop of its kind in South Africa.
